Hello, I am Dr. Ia Xiong and the founder of Hmong Rising. I am a Hmong woman and the first person in my family to be born in the United States. My parents are refugees who fled their homeland to escape the horrors of war and genocide.
As a teenager, I began to uncover the stories of my parents' survival—stories of resilience and unimaginable hardship. This understanding ignited a passion in me to explore the profound effects of trauma and to help my community heal from the burdens of its past.
Driven by this mission, I became a psychologist specializing in multicultural issues and trauma-informed care. I reconnected with my Hmong roots and began my journey as a healer.
I believe in the possibility of transformation. I believe that together, we can shift from generations of surviving to a collective journey of healing and thriving.
And thus, Hmong Rising was born.
Hmong Rising embodies the unyielding spirit of the Hmong people who have long persevered despite inconceivable challenges.
From mountain tops to sky scrapers, together we rise.
Dr. Ia Xiong is a Licensed Psychologist with a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology. She specializes in multicultural issues and trauma-informed care.
